Peque

Peque

10/08/1998 - 17/04/2009

I have always liked dogs. I played with them, ran after them, and had fun with them. There wasn't, however, any dog like MY dog. Peque has been with me for almost as long as I can remember. We've practically grown up together.

I know many people can think he was just an animal, but I also know that only those who have had dogs can trully understand what good companions they are. They love you inconditionally, as long as you can feed them (cocido or garbanzo beans ideally) and give them a little love. They don't care whether you hair doesn't look nice, or if your pants don't match your shirt. They will protect you from everything, even if the "intruder" is ten times bigger than them. They will lie by your side when you're in a bad mood and play with you when you feel happy.

As I have heard someplace, he who doesn't love can't get hurt. I think that sometimes it is worth the pain. I know I will always remember him as MY dog. I might feel a little better tomorrow, but he will always have a little space in my heart and memory.

We shouldn't have any regrets. Everybody has loved him and we tried to make him the happiest dog on Earth. Even Grandma, who never liked dogs, told me once that Peque was the only dog she had allowed to get near her and jump around her. I think you made the right decision, and now he can finally be free from his pain.

We love you, Peque!

P.S: I chose that picture because it is my favorite one. He's just laying on bed smiling after doing his croquette thing :)

Empanadaaaaa

Heeeey!!

So today I was watching the food chanel, and a girl was making pizza (and by the way it looked awesome.... :P). SO I really felt like doing something like that, so I started looking up pizza dough recipes, when I remembered that in Spain we have something better, and I was good at making it!! (that's the most important part, actually :P)

Sooo I was wondering if you could send me the whole recipe for empanada Mom?? I want to make it one of these weekends, and I will make it with tuna fish and eggs and green pepper.

Today it snowed here!! We didnt have school off, but we had a 2 hour delay so instead of starting at 7.20, school started at 9.20. I was soooooooooooooo happy!! For the first time since I'm here I woke up for school and there was light outside :p Now Rose and I are praying that it'll snow a little more tonight and tomorrow we won't have school.

Even though it didn't snow much, in a place like this it is a big deal. Nobody is used to driving with ice, so ther were lots of accidents. In fact, when Ubie was taking us to school we had a little accident. The car in front of us stopped suddenly and we crashed into it. It wasn't much, but because it was a big car and UBie's is very small, it was all crushed (poor little fellow :O) The insurance company will take care of everything but now he has to wait until they fix his car.

It was actually a very weird day, because everything went by very quickly. I really wish I didn't have to wake up at 6.30 everydayyyy!!

Well, that's all for today. Tomorrow Rose is giving a concert, so we weill go and see it. On the 13th Ja, the little (or not so little anymore!) Thai girl will come. I'm really looking forward to meeting her. She is going to be working, so she'll stay until June.

By the way, what happened with the plane tickets?? could you do it??

Please don't forget to send me the recipe so I can look at it this weekend!! :D

Love,

Elena

Important!!

Hey everyone!!

I just want to let you know, Mom and Dad, that on Wedneday I'll be late from school. I have a meeting with my math teacher. I really have to go because I don;t understand really well what we're doing and the test is next week. Will you be awake at about 11 (in Spain)?? Here it'll be around 5, maybe I'll be able to be at home a little before.

Well, I just wanted to tell you that.

Today I started painting a composition in art with chalk pastels. I looove them, maybe next month I'll buy myself some!! <33>

By the way, tomorrow we have the next payment for the New York trip!! Mom has already given me a check and everything... the sooner we talk about it the sooner it happens!! haha

Well, That's everything!! I love you!!

1st Day, 2nd Semester

Wooooooooooooohoooo!!!

That's all I can say so far. Why?? Well...

Let's begin with History... The class was actually quite interesting (we're getting to the 2nd period of the Industrial Revolution, and the birth of Socialism and Comunism and stuff). But the best part was at the end, when I saw my exam grade.... Hehehe I got a 99!! :D That means, this semester I have an A (yeaaaah!!)

Then things just kept on getting better... In Math I had a 108 in the exam (I looove extra credit, it makes my life better) and I'm now the best of the class!! Next day I'll bring my camera and I'll take a little picture of the board :D Mrs Edwards also took a picture of me with a yoda poster she has. She does that with the numer 1 and the number 2 of the class.... it was so funny!!

Then in Art, we're getting to still lives, which are cool. I'm considering working in a museum or something (imagine becoming the director of El Prado hohoho :P)

And finally in Chemistry... I got a 109 in the exam, and a 100 for the semester!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!! I was soooo happy!!! Then we got to play with the little balls and stick model that form molecules, and I tried to make glucose. I wasn't very succesful, but the teacher helped me, so then it came out ok.

Elena

Obamania

I suddenly like Barack Obama. why?? It is a simple reson. Thanks to him we got a day off from school yesterday!!

The school system said it was because of the weather (there was a possibility that it would snow), however Mom and UBie believe it is because of the inaugural address. I believe that too. I felt so lucky!! I really wanted to watch the inaugural address (I'm here only for one year, it's the year of the election and it's a historic election... I HAD TO see it!!), so that's what I did from 10.30 until 1. (well, I was drawing at the same time, but that doesn't count, I'm a woman and can do 2 things at the same time).

I still don't know what is goin gto happen, and it's too early to judge the new President, but there's one thing that I don't quite like. I know the United States is currently the richest and most influential country in the world. However, do we have the right to think that everything in Spain will be sorted out just because Obama became the president? I think that Spanish affairs should be managed by the Spanish government. Probably the crisis was unavoidable, all markets are connected to wall street, but maybe if we hadn't denied it, we could've done something so that it hadn't become that horrible.

But enough about politics (If I had knowledge enough I could talk about it for days :P). So today was a day of confusion. Nobody knew if it was a B day as scheduled or an A day to make up for yesterday. Rose and I were lucky and got it right, it was a B day :P

As soon as I came home, Mom was leaving to renew her drivers license. It wa sfunny because right when she left I remembered that i had to call Grandpa and after she had closed the garage door and started up the car I ran outside to let her know. hahaha it was actually funny!! (I had no shoes on, my slippers in my hand, running towards the car... "MOOOOOM" :P)

I had a great time talking to them all!! And even Victor was there, so it was a coincidence hahaha!! But anyway, I preferred to call today even though the birthday is tomorrow (yes, I saw the message, mom) because I really felt like talking to them, and I was so excited it was today that I couldn't wait!!! :D

Soooo that's all!! Right now I was practicing some calligraphy (they bought me a kit for my birthday). Some day I'll write letters to all of you!! :P

Love!

Cool project :D

Hi everyone!!

I just wanted to write about what I'm going to do with my Art Honor Society. We are going to paint a mural in the library!! I feel very excited about it, and there's only 5 of us who want to do it, which means it will be a small and comfortable group. We have more or less sketched what we are going to do and there is going to be references of many books (and I even told them to draw Don Quijote ;D)

I think it is a very interesting project, and along with my ceiling tile, will help me to be "immortalized" and have some proof that I was there.

Also, for my Public Speaking class, we have to do a little research on something. My group decided to talk about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and I am going to talk about the Jewish point of view (Actually I wanted to tell the story, but fate decided that I wasn't destinied to do that :P). Aaaanyway, it is a good excuse to start doing a little investigation about something that they talk many times about in the news and that I didn't fully understand.

That's all I have to tell. I'm still waiting for my beautiful markers!!! (I hope they arrive in 1 week's time, maybe 2)

Love!!

Elena

P.S. By the way, I just realized I posted my las post three times... When I was checking why THIS post wasn't there. I think there must be something wrong with my computer, so I don't know. Just let me know if you see this, I think I've figured a way to see if it's posted or not.

All good things come to an end

And holidays seem to end even faster than other things.

Last night I couldn't sleep until 1.30/2 I think it's because that's the time I was used to go to bed during the holidays (if not at 3 and at times even at 4 :P), however this morning I wasn't especially tired, I was feeling ok. (Tonight I'll sleep tight, though :P)

My first block was history, and I kind of spent it reading the golden compass. No that I'm not interested in the Underground Railroad and the causes of the Civil War, but the teacher keeps saying the same things over and over, so when I had a free minute, I read.

Then I had Math. I thought I had forgotten everything, but as soon as I started doing my problems, I remembered it all. The same thing with Chemistry. In Art everything was fine, that's a cool class ;D

I just wanted to say that I'm still alive after my first day of school after the holidays. Tomorrow I have a meeting with my mock trial group. Not that I feel like staying, but I signed up for it and I can't say no now!!

By the way, happy 6th of January. I hope los reyes will bring you a lot of gifts!! ;D

Love,

Elena

Happy New Year

I just want to wish you all a happy 2009.

I have to admit that 2008 was a good year. I traveled a lot, we did a lo tof things at school (including the play with MArisa :D), suring the summer we went back to Melilla... And then my american adventure started!!

I can only say that I hope this new year will beat 2008, I certainly am on my way!!

I didn't eat grapes, I had M&M's (or lacasitos) with Rose. It was funny, because we decided to eat 3 M&M's at a time because they are very small, and grapes are rather big. Hehehe I don't have anything else to say, you can imagine the rest :P

After that Rose and Joey got to open one gift (the rest we'll give to them when all the family comes). Joey opened Mom's, which was a little game, and Rose opened mine, which was the third book of the Twilight series... Eclipse!!! I hid it in a pillow behind the Christmas tree with a lot of newspapers, and gave another box to her that was empty... It was funny to look at her face!! Mom recorded it all, so I guess when I'm there you'll see it ;D

And yesterday we went to the Mongolian BBQ again. I looove that place!! We only go on birthdays, so I'm glad we will be back for my birthday ;D Then we came back home and watched the Golden Compass. I am going to buy those books!!! They are fantasy books, just the kind I like :D And then I went with Chris and Joey to play the wii, and Chris taught me some karate moves. Now I know at least 4 different ways to make my opponent faint and I also know some pressure points. Coooool! :P

Sooo that's all!! I love you very much!!
